Dear fashionistas,
On May 9th, 2018 I turned 25 years old. It's hard to grasp the fact that I'm now a quarter of a century old. It's also funny I still recall the following words someone uttered to me: "after your fifteen birthday the years will flash before your eyes". And I must say that those words proved to be true.
It seems like I closed my eyes and next thing I knew I opened them and I'm a year older. And no, by no means I'm complaining about this at all!

I'm very grateful to have made it this far in my walk of life. I see each year as a blessing, I only wish I could do more at my age. I feel like I still have a long way to go in this "adulting phase" but for now I'm doing okay and learning more about myself as I go.

I have been a fan of Curlformer rollers since the start of my natural hair journey. The ones shown are actually imitation ones since I was unable to afford buying the real ones back then. After I tried them for quite some time I realized that these dupe ones worked just fine on my hair and I could not justify spending $60 more to get the real ones.
Years later, the Hydra Curlformer came into the picture and I used it for my wash n' gos as well as some twist-outs to achieve some curl definition. However, what I did not know until recently is that the Hydra Curlformer can also be used for straight styles such as blowouts, roller sets and roller sets! The idea for this video came from that realization, I wanted to test the pairing of both the Curlformer rollers and the Hydra Curllformer to see if my curls would be any different.
Below are my results of my fun experiment:

Hi fashionistas,
Today I'm sharing with you all my progress for these past 4 years of being natural. Can you believe it has been that long already? I, myself, cannot! I had forgotten to even track my progress to be honest. I noticed I had come a long way just the other day when I decided to do a twist out for a change. To my surprise as I did my twists in front of the mirror this time I noticed that my hair was way past my nose bridge. It felt surreal and I quickly went back to my old videos for a quick comparison and was shocked to see my hair had really grown quite a bit.

To update you all just like old times I decided to get dolled up and record my length check video for you all. Let me know your thoughts on my progress below. Also please do share how are you doing in your own hair journey?
Love you all!

Hey everyone,
Today I present to you the hairstyle I've been wearing the most lately. If you recall from a long time ago, this look resembles the hair bow hairstyle I did on my hair back when it was relaxed. (You can check that one out HERE.)

A few days ago I tried the "best twist-out ever" method and I loved it. I couldn't wait to do it again and this time actually show you guys my results. Once again it came out great, this time even better! I used a product I have been using and loving for a while now - the shea butter curling custard - and my twists came out soft and so defined. If you guys would like to know what my staple products are feel free to let me know in the comments below. Besides the curling custard I also used the perm rods you see below. You can find these at any beauty supply store. I got about 4 packs of these for 0.69 cents each.

THE TWIST-OUT
I used Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie for my twist-out and sealed each twist with Extra-Virgin Olive Oil.
The next day I rubbed Olive Oil on my hands again - to prevent frizz - and unraveled each twist separated them in about 4 parts.
Have you tried this method before?
I love it! It worked pretty well for me. I did them on Sunday and it lasted for almost a whole week - only because I washed my hair today so I have to re-twist them tonight. I'm definitely looking forward to rocking this look even more when my hair grows even longer.
Thanks for reading!

I know some of you were probably like "Sheyla where did all that hair come from?" when you saw my last OOTD | Temporarily post.
So to clear it all up here's a hair update.
Due to the recent Tropical Storm, now Hurricane, Isaac I was stuck at home for 3 days this past weekend. Given all that free time I decided to challenge myself and do my own Senegalese Twists for the first time. It was a painstaking experiment but the end results totally paid off.
Here's how it turned out
They are not perfect but I'm planning on keeping them on for a month!
Wish me luck.

Here's a sneak peek at my hair's shrinkage and current length. ♥
The beauty of being a curly gal is being able to fake the short look with no problem. Why? Because of shrinkage that is! African American hair shrinks like no other and this photo is a proof of that. ♥
Stay tuned for a Length Check Video COMING UP SOON...
p.s: This is a photo of my hair with no product! I specifically washed my hair and applied no product after, just to get a true length and texture.
